Studio B ballet logo

At SBSD we will follow the ISTD graded syllabus for all our ballet classes. ISTD is a world leading examination board for classical ballet, modern and tap. Ballet is the absolute core of dance and implements technique, strength, flexibility and is fundamental for dance training. From our Bumble Bees to our main school dancers, we have a classical ballet class for you. Our classical dancers will not only work towards exams but associate programs, festivals and of course feature in our annual shows

Studio B acrobatic arts logo

We are super excited to be the only school in the area to deliver these elite acro classes for our dancers, Miss Laura, has been a qualified acrobatic arts and pre-school acro teacher for over 6 years and loves how the progressions are safe, effective and steady to ensure dancers are working within their means and to their body’s development stage. To join Acrobatic Arts classes, dancers must be enrolled in one of our technique classes- ballet or contemporary, as acro is always placed within a full dance routine. Our Bumble Bees will do combined ballet and acro classes

Studio B modern logo

Modern will be a combined class, with ballet, for our younger dancers and we will follow the ISTD syllabus grade. Our modern dancers will have the opportunity to take exams and progress up the grades. Modern combines lyrical and jazz styles which gives the dancers a full repertoire of dance skills. Our modern dancers will have opportunities to progress to our competition team and will take part in all performances and shows.

Studio B Company Members are invited to be a part of the team and take an extra weekly class to enhance their training.

Company members take part in competitions and festivals with solos, duos and groups in different genres.

Our company members are also able to audition for external associate programs for pre-vocational training.

contemporary

We are very excited to be running exceptional contemporary classes from Studio B and our teacher is the very talented, Miss Lucie. Alongside ballet, contemporary is ones of our main technique classes for our SBSD dancers and will start from age 7. Contemporary dance uses many methods and interpretations to connect the mind and body through fluid dance.

Studio B musical theatre

Does your child love to dance, sing and act? Then musical theatre is for them! Inspired by West End shows, our dancers learn everything from vocal warm ups, dance routines, script work and stage direction.
Our vibrant classes are filled with fun and imagination. All the musical theatre students have the opportunity to join our annual shows and any other performances the school takes part in.

Studio B's Teachers

Miss Laura

Principal: Miss Laura

I have danced since the age of two. At the Pamela Gray Dance Academy in Hull I studied ballet, tap, modern and musical theatre, I also took regular classes with the Yorkshire Ballet Scholarship Centre. I have a National Diploma in Professional Dance and a Dance Teaching Associate. After graduating from the Northern Ballet School in Manchester, I was offered a contract in Portugal as a classical soloist dancer and aerial artist. I thoroughly enjoyed this and managed to work my way onto Carnival Cruise Lines, travelling across many countries.

I had many amazing opportunities during my dancing career, including, dancing for the BBC on Top of the Pops (showing my age), working as an opening dancer for the Commonwealth Games, being an opening performance dancer for the Jimmy Carr Tour and even a catwalk hair model for L'Oréal.

I settled back in the UK and have been teaching ever since, starting my own successful dance school in Hull. Eventually, I relocated to Stone, setting up Studio B Barre Fit in May 2021, then launching Studio B School of Dance in October 2021. I absolutely love teaching and have had many student successes throughout the years, including dancers training full-time with The Royal Ballet School.

I have had a passion for performing since I was three. I received a DADA Scholarship from Laines Theatre Arts in 2008, gaining a diploma in dance and musical theatre before heading to Carnival Cruise Lines. Once back on land, I began working in a variety of theatre productions. I have recently finished my fifth year at the largest Christmas show in Europe, based in Norfolk, known as Thursford Christmas Spectacular. I enjoy passing on my experience and knowledge as I guest teach across the UK.

I started dancing at the age of two at Jenny Brennan School of Dance, before being awarded a full scholarship to train at Elmhurst Ballet School from the age of 12 onwards. During this time, I had the opportunity to work along some well-known guest choreographers. I went on to train at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, achieving a BA Hons in 2020. For the last year, I have been touring the UK with the Transitions Dance Company and teaching at Staffordshire Youth Ballet.

I have been an international dance artist for fifteen years. Originally from France, I now live in Stoke-on-Trent. I began to work as a professional dancer in the Junior Ballet d Aquitaine (a contemporary dance company) in Bordeaux from the age of 19, touring France, China and Mongolia. After moving to the UK, I worked as a freelance dance artist, combining my love for teaching and performing. I have been a member of Desi Nach for over 5 years, a Bollywood Performance Company, touring the UK.
